DONE
Whew! We are done with surgery in this family for a while (or so we desperately hope!). James did really well today for his adenoidectomy and ear tubes. We got to go back with him and hold him while he fell asleep for surgery. Then, less than an hour later, we got to hold him as he woke up. He did great. The doc said his adenoids were rather large and that the fluid in his ears was pretty thick, so he expected that the surgery would show some pretty fast results. He did vomit in recovery, but then started waving and smiling, and he's done well here at home, eating, drinking and playing. We both felt almost guilty that we weren't more nervous, but this was a piece of cake compared to our last stay. We were also reminded of how blessed we have been so far when we realized that the couple next to us was waiting not only for their child to get out of surgery, but then had to wait another 2 days for oncology results.

Deja Vu
Since our last post, Big Brother had a smashing firetruck birthday party,
James got two teeth, learned to climb the stairs, developed a serious double ear infection,
they were both TOO CUTE for Halloween,
and the ENT confirmed that James needs an adenoidectomy and tubes in his ears. So, tomorrow (November 10th), we go in for a second, albeit minor, surgery. The part that really stinks is that we "report" to and wait in the same area where we waited for James during the craniectomy in August. So, while we're really not nervous about the surgery itself, we are REALLY not looking forward to it. His surgery is at 2:15, and we expect to see him before 3pm and take him home in time for dinner. We've been told to expect a cranky baby with a bit of extra congestion and bad breath for about a week--how FUN! We'll be sure to update when we are home safe tomorrow.
